Yelm Community Services – Great Escapes Day Camp – 2019
Yelm Community Services has sponsored Great Escapes Day Camp for kids in the greater Yelm Community since 1971. Yelm Community Services provides many fun activities and allows youth to combine the fun and freedom of being in a natural setting while learning new skills and making new friends. Each week offers adventures that teach campers to respect and enjoy nature while having fun – hiking, exploring, art and crafts, swimming, camp songs, and field trips. Our day camp staff helps to build teamwork and to provide challenging, safe activities for kids. We make day camp easier for families with convenient drop off and pick up times.
We go on two to three field trips per week. Some of the trips we have done in the past include the following destinations: Frye Cove, Tolmie Park, Timberline High School (swimming), the Port of Olympia, Priest Point Park, Wolfhaven, Tenino Quarry Park, Eatonville Park, McLane Trails, Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, and much more. Day campers visit all local colleges, hear from interesting people, attend local library events, have reading competitions, and we provide assistance with Math using Yelm Schools’ Math Connects curriculum.
